I am a dreamer, a person who aims towards the impossible and makes it possible. When I was a kid in Puerto Rico, I dreamed of living in the United States. I begged for years since I first went to California on a vacation. I had family and friends in Puerto Rico but I still wanted to get out and explore the world. I never been to any other place than the U.S. and it made me wish that my dream of exploring the world could become reality. Ten years after I visited California, my dream came true. I was moving to Plymouth, New Hampshire. Through my young eyes, it was a quiet place with undisturbed natural landscapes. While, I was in New Hampshire, I went to my first Amusement Park it was called Canobie Lake Park and I was beyond amazed by the mechanics of the rollercoasters. Of course, I have seen rollercoasters but I never saw one like it. So right there on Canobie Lake Park, my fascination with mechanical engineering took hold. At the end of the 5th grade, my cousin had her "quinceañeras" in Walt Disney World. The experience was incredible and we went to locations in the park that we never explored before like Space Mountain and Tomorrowland. At this time, my parents told me that we were moving to Florida after I finished elementary school. I was excited and could not wait to find out what the future would hold for me and I could not wait to start my new life in Florida. We moved to a small county in Florida called Saint Johns County. The place is vast in its spaces and was really different from New Hampshire. There is an interesting area called Saint Augustine which was not that far but we visited so often that it lost its novelty and it never feels like the first time I visited. I started middle school where I met some new friends but the experience is not that memorable. While in Middle School, I went to Walt Disney World once again and my fascination with mechanical engineering grew. Walt Disney World changed before my eyes from a place to have fun to a place full of amazing mechanical wonders. The mechanical wonders that were invented and created intrigued me in such way that I knew that this was my future. At the same time, I rediscovered a website called YouTube and it was incredible! It amazed me how people were so creative, how they inspired others and how they became what they wanted to be. Three years later and now I am in high school and it is much better than junior high because I am comfortable socializing and interacting with my peers. I have new interesting people and some have become my best friends. At the same time, I joined a class called Drafting, I actually did not know anything about the class or topic or even what was the class and even how I got admitted but I decided to go with it. I am still taking that class and it was the best decision I have made in my life, so far. It is the best decision because when I put t together with my interest in mechanical engineering, everything makes even more sense and makes me more determined to reach my dream. I lived in Puerto Rico and I wished to explore the world and I am on my way but more importantly, I have seen a new horizon with a new dream that I want to accomplish. I am a dreamer, a person who sets their future for the unknown. |
